Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 2026
Musedrops (“Musedrops”, “we”, “us”) is owned and operated by Imagio LLC, California, USA.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect personal information when you use the Musedrops website and mobile applications.
If you have questions, contact us at hi@musedrops.com.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
When you create an account on the website or in the mobile applications, we collect personal information such as your name, email address, phone number, password, and chosen authentication method. Authentication may be provided through email and password, Google, Apple, or phone-based login. Passwords are stored securely using industry-standard encryption and hashing practices.
Users may also provide information through content suggestions, ratings, comments, playlists, saved items, feedback, and support messages. Users do not upload or create the audio stories themselves.
When you use the Drop-in feature to have a live voice conversation with a host, we generate and store a text transcript of the conversation. Audio is processed in real time to produce the transcript and is not stored. Transcripts may include personal information shared during the conversation.
Information Collected Automatically
We collect information about how you interact with Musedrops, including content played, skips, likes, ratings, replays, playlist activity, session duration, and feature usage. This data is used to personalize content, improve recommendations, rank and evaluate content, and understand usage patterns.
We also collect technical information such as device type, operating system, app version, browser type, approximate location at the country or region level, IP address, and diagnostic or log data necessary for security, analytics, and service reliability.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
The Musedrops website uses functional cookies to support authentication, session persistence, and user preferences. Analytics cookies are used to measure usage and improve the service. The website does not use advertising cookies, third-party ad trackers, or cross-site tracking for advertising purposes. Advertising measurement takes place only in our mobile applications, as described in Section 6. Cookie preferences can be managed through browser settings.
Analytics
We use analytics services to understand how users interact with Musedrops. These services collect usage data, device information, and approximate location. Analytics providers may change over time. Analytics data is used for product improvement, personalization, performance monitoring, and usage analysis. In our mobile applications, a limited subset of these events is also shared with our advertising partner for advertising measurement, as described in Section 6.
Advertising Identifiers and App Tracking Transparency
Mobile devices provide a resettable advertising identifier that can be used to measure advertising performance. On iOS and iPadOS this is the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA); on Android it is the Advertising ID.
On iOS and iPadOS, the app does not collect the IDFA unless you grant permission through Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompt. We present that prompt when you tap “Get started” on the welcome screen, rather than at launch; if you never reach that step, you are never prompted and no IDFA is collected.
- If you allow tracking, the Meta SDK may collect your IDFA and send it alongside the events listed in Section 6, so app installs and in-app activity can be attributed to a specific advertising campaign.
- If you decline, IDFA collection stays switched off. Advertising measurement then relies on Apple's SKAdNetwork, which reports campaign results to us in aggregate without identifying you.
Declining has no effect on your ability to use Musedrops or on any feature of the service. You can change your decision at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
On Android, there is no ATT prompt. The app declares the AD_ID permission and the Meta SDK collects the Android Advertising ID by default, subject to your device settings. You can opt out under Settings → Privacy → Ads, where you can reset the identifier or delete it entirely so that apps receive no advertising ID.
2. How We Use Information
We use personal information to operate and maintain Musedrops, provide personalized content and recommendations, improve content quality and ranking, monitor performance and stability, communicate with users, deliver transactional and marketing messages, respond to support requests, measure the performance of our advertising, and comply with legal obligations. We use Drop-in conversation transcripts to understand the types of conversations users have with hosts, improve the Drop-in experience, and ensure content quality and safety. We do not sell personal data for money; see Section 7 for how advertising-related sharing is treated under California law.
3. Communications
We send transactional communications related to account activity, security, and service updates. We may also send marketing communications by email, text message, or push notification. Users may opt out of marketing communications at any time through account settings or unsubscribe mechanisms. Push notifications may be used in the mobile applications.
4. Data Storage and Processing
Personal data is stored and processed using cloud infrastructure provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS) and related services. Data is primarily processed in the United States but may be transferred or delivered globally through distributed infrastructure such as content delivery networks. We implement reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect personal data.
5. Sharing of Information
We share personal information with service providers who support the operation of Musedrops, with the advertising and analytics partners described in Section 6, when required by law or legal process, to protect the rights, safety, and security of users or the service, or in connection with a business transaction such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
6. Advertising and Analytics Partners
We advertise Musedrops on third-party platforms and need to know which campaigns bring people to the app. To do that, our mobile applications include the Meta SDK, provided by Meta Platforms, Inc. (Facebook and Instagram). This is used for advertising measurement and attribution. We do not display third-party advertising inside Musedrops.
What we send to Meta. From the mobile applications only, we forward a curated subset of events:
- app installation and app launches;
- account registration, including the sign-in method used (for example email, Google, or Apple);
- completion of onboarding;
- starting a drop and completing a drop, including the drop identifier and how much of it you listened to;
- saving a drop or following a show, including the drop or show identifier;
- searches you run in the app, including the text of your search query.
These events are accompanied by device and app information, your IP address, an app-scoped anonymous identifier generated by the Meta SDK, and — on iOS only where you have allowed tracking through ATT, or on Android where your device settings permit it — your advertising identifier.
What we do not send. We do not send Meta your name, email address, phone number, or password. We do not send Drop-in conversation transcripts, nor the contents of your playlists, comments, ratings, feedback, or support messages. We do not upload contact lists or match you to Meta by email or phone number.
Why. Meta processes this information to attribute app installs and in-app activity to specific ad campaigns, report aggregate campaign performance to us, and improve the targeting of our future advertising, which may include showing our ads to people with characteristics similar to existing users.
Meta's own role. Meta may act as an independent controller of some of this data and use it in accordance with its own policies. Meta's data practices are described in the Meta Privacy Policy. Ad personalization can be managed in Meta's Ads Preferences settings.
Your controls. Declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt on Apple devices prevents collection of your IDFA. On Android, you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your device privacy settings. You may also contact us at hi@musedrops.com to request that we stop sharing your personal data for advertising purposes.
We may add or change advertising and analytics partners over time and will update this policy accordingly.
7. Your Privacy Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal data, to receive a copy of your data, or to withdraw consent where applicable.
California residents have rights under applicable privacy laws to request access to or deletion of personal data and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal data. We do not sell personal data for money. However, sharing advertising identifiers and advertising event data with partners such as Meta, as described in Section 6, may be considered a “sale” or “sharing” for cross-context behavioral advertising under the California Consumer Privacy Act. You may opt out by declining the App Tracking Transparency prompt on Apple devices, by limiting ad personalization in your device settings, or by emailing hi@musedrops.com.
Residents of the European Union and United Kingdom have rights under the GDPR to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
Requests can be submitted to hi@musedrops.com.
8. Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service, fulfill legal and operational requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Users may request deletion of their data at any time.
9. Children’s Privacy
Musedrops is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
10. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect personal data. While no system is completely secure, we take privacy and security seriously and design the service accordingly.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated through the service or by email.
